Stopped on the side of the road.
Camera in hand.
Wind whipping in my hair.
Lightning bugs no longer adorn the fields of this late summer night.
I’m giddy with delight at the sight of lightning.
Not sure what it is about it, but it makes me smile.
Makes me calm.
Makes my Spidey Senses tingle.
Makes me, me.
I lean against my pretty blue car.
Feel the bass of a song by Super Tramp beating through the steel.
I hold the camera up and giggle.
I keep snapping away.
Hoping for the light, the tingle, the electricity.
Then, it happens.
I capture it.
I laugh out loud as the shutter clicks.
I check the camera roll and see.
That light. That chaos. That beauty.
I think, that’s me.
That light. That chaos. That beauty.
It is me.

I think it’s you too! Love it!
Thanks Diana. I felt so free and happy watching the storm last night.
Pretty images…lovely words like shutter, snapping, senses. tingle. Soothed me…needed it.
Glad it did Susannah. It soothed me too. To stand out there in the night soothed me too. I hope you’re okay my love.
Love this! Especially the tingly Spidey Sense.
Thanks my dear. Thanks.
There you go again, not be very good at this whole “writing thing…”
Oh shut up, you. Giggle. I just write what I feel. So do you.
very nice….love the last lines the most.
Me too honey, me too.
You not only sparkle, you spark, too! Love it! Great shot, too
Oh Kip thank you for the kind words. You’re very sweet.
My pleasure, Renee!
Beautiful. Love the last two lines.
Thank you so much. I’m glad you’re here.
I especially like this one!
Russ
Thank you so much. I do too. It was fun to stand out there and wait for the lightning to come. Lightning is one of my favorites! I’m so glad you liked my little poem.
Oooo, I loved that picture and enjoyed reading this poem again. It made me smile and I felt like I was right there with you.
Thank you honey. I’m glad you liked it. I’m telling you I don’t know what it is about lightning but it makes me so damn happy.
I loved this! I felt like I was standing outside the car watching the storm. Oh, how I long for storms and thunder. That deep chest rumble. Oh how I long…
I revel in them my sweet. I’m enamored with their beauty and chaos. It’s the only time this mind of mine slows down and I can make sense of the chaos. We could always chase storms together.
Love, Renee
Have you ever chased? It’s intense.
No but I want to so badly. I have done my own chasing of course.
tornadovideos.net – they have tours that are set up for the midwest during chasing season. spendy but worth it.
Ooooohhhh I’m so excited. Thanks hon.
