100 Word Song-Deep As You Go

We find two lovers embroiled in a heated discussion. I’m not sure of the circumstances that brought them here, but the words came to me. I was in the shower when the woman began screaming, tell her the truth! I’m learning that there are so many degrees of love. So many ways to turn your back on happiness. When we fall, we fall hard. And every time we do, it’s more difficult to get back up. We must though. We must get up, and brush the dust from our hearts. Remove the shards of glass too. Sweep them into a pile and discard them. Hopefully the next time we love, it will be forever.

Thank you Lance Burson from My Blog Can Beat Up Your Blog for hosting the 100 Word Song story prompt.

(He… She…)

I miss you so much.

If you did, you’d tell her the truth.

I can’t, you know that.

I know nothing, but what is between you and me. Tell her that you love me.

I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone in my life.

Do you believe in the strength of that love?

Yes.

Then tell her the truth. I am not the reason you faltered, I was merely the catalyst.

What would you have me do?

Tell her that you love me. Own what you feel. Don’t lose me, don’t leave me. Please, don’t let me drown.

    • I’m unsure if he will own up to it. He’s afraid but too much of an alpha male to admit it. We’ll see what the future brings for these two. My hope is they will end up together after everything around them falls apart.

      Love, Renee

    • I’m beginning to believe you’re right loneyheart. I hope she finds her value. I hope she finds her love. But I do hope she finds it with him.

      • I have come to believe that love is a funny thing. And the more we look for it, search for it, the less we find it. I am more of the mind set that love comes in and knocks us on our ass when it is meant to be. It should not be a battle to achieve. That if someone loves you, truly loves you then they want to shout it from the roof tops and will take what ever steps necessary to make it happen.
Forever and ever a cockeyed optimist.

      • I like your optimism. I’m hopeful just like you. I want love to be the way you explain it. I pray that it will come to me like that someday.

        Love, Renee

    • Dear Tara,

I know you’re right. It isn’t easy for anyone to make a change in their life, whether it’s negative or positive. I read somewhere that all it takes is 20 seconds of courage. I agree with that. It took me 20 seconds to tell my ex I was leaving. Another 20 to tell my children the news. Those two events changed my life and theirs. I wouldn’t change anything about it except the pain we all felt.

I believe if you love someone, you owe it to them to at least try to be courageous. To change. To give it all you’ve got. Love is love. It must be felt to the very bottom of our souls.

      Love, Renee
